TAMPA — For the second time this season, the visiting team won the game between Class 4A, District 10 rivals Academy of the Holy Names and Tampa Catholic.

Friday, the Jaguars won 5-2, avenging a 7-4 loss.

“Whenever it’s TC, it’s a different vibe with the kids,” Jaguars coach Don Barren said. “It’s a rivalry, but it’s a friendly rivalry.”

AHN (9-4, 4-1) struck early, putting up four runs before Tampa Catholic scored one in the third. The Jaguars took a 2-0 lead in the first on run-scoring doubles by Katie Hale and Brittany Bramwell, who added a run-scoring single in the seventh.

Devin Lewis led off the second with a triple and scored on a Janelle Enriquez single. AHN added an unearned run in the third.

“We strung together our hits, but we hit rockets right at people,” Barren said of his team’s 13 hits sprinkled with some hard shots that did not get through.

Julie Rogers got Tampa Catholic (9-7, 5-1) on the scoreboard with a sacrifice fly that plated Gabby Perez in the third. An inning later, Courtney Carson drew a bases-loaded walk to score Emily Small.
