Canterbury, the top-ranked team in Class 2A, finished 2-2 at the Kissimmee Classic.
The Crusaders beat 4A, No. 4 Starke Bradford 2-1 and Miami Southwest Christian 12-0. Hailey Hopkins was 8-of-14 with three home runs and Taylor Bump was 7-of-13 with two homers in four games to lead Canterbury.
Countryside also went 2-2, beating Miami Coral Reef 6-4 and host Kissimmee Osceola 9-7. Samantha Sharpe went 5-of-10 in three games.
Canterbury and Countryside both played in the blue bracket, the toughest of the tournament with 13 of the 16 teams ranked in the state poll.
Chamberlain won the lower-level gold bracket, beating Riverview 7-6 in the championship game. Olivia Dwyer, the Chiefs’ ace, was named MVP of the gold bracket after winning three games. The Sharks’ Kaitlyn McMillan was the defensive MVP of the bracket.
Plant went 2-2 in the gold bracket.
