Four area athletes were among the state’s top 15 boys basketball players in Class 5A.

Lakewood senior Jacobi Boykins earned first-team all-state honors by the Florida Association of Basketball Coaches and Source Hoops, the groups announced Tuesday morning. The 6-foot-4 Louisiana Tech recruit took the Spartans to the state title game by averaging a team-high 22 points per game. He was the Tampa Bay Times’ Pinellas County player of the year.

Nature Coast senior guard Carlos Clemente earned second-team honors. The North Suncoast player of the year made 42 percent of his 3-point attempts and averaged almost 17 points per game to carry the Sharks to the region final.

River Ridge center John Childs and Gibbs guard Barry Brown were both third-team picks.

Childs, a 6-foot-10 Saint Leo recruit, was a triple-double threat. He averaged 16 points, 11 rebounds and six blocks per game. Brown, a 6-foot-2 junior was Gibbs’ top player, averaging 20 points, five rebounds and three steals.
