Countryside senior 1B/RHP Jake Mielock has signed with the University of Tampa, according to coach Kemo O’Sullivan. Mielock hit .241 last season with 12 RBIs. Tampa recruited him as a pitcher.
Mielock was 2-3 in 10 appearances with two saves and a 1.47 ERA. He was used mostly in relief last season, but O’Sullivan said he will be one of the top two pitchers in the rotation as a senior.
Tampa was 38-10 last season first in the Sunshine State Conference with an 18-6 record. The Spartans are coached by Joe Urso.
