Then a power outage delayed the game with 10:04 remaining in the fourth. When the lights came back on, the offenses woke up. Alonso scored on two of its next three drives to go up 21-14 with 39 seconds left. Newsome quarterback Spencer Preston hadn’t completed a pass prior to the final drive. But he completed two, one a 4-yard touchdown to Donavan Geter on the last play of regulation.
Bruce Anderson ran in the winning two-point conversion.
Key drive: Tied at 7 late in the third quarter, Newsome started a drive from its 37. It rode Anderson, its workhorse, the entire drive, and he finished it off with a 4-yard touchdown run.
