Shorecrest’s Joshua Chen, who finished third in the 100 breaststroke at last year’s Class A state swim meet, returns this week from a back injury that sidelined him the first month of the season.
Chen, ranked 24th in the state by collegeswimming.com, will swim in a dual meet Thursday before participating in Saturday’s city meet. Shorecrest coach Patty Nardozzi said she is holding Chen out of the 100 breast this weekend because the event would still be too strenuous on his back. Instead, Chen will be in the 50 free and 100 back.
“I still anticipate Joshua scoring some valuable points for us,” Nardozzi said.
Diving for the city meet will be held at 4 p.m. Friday at Northeast. Swimming at North Shore Pool starts Saturday at 8, followed by the finals at 5.
