Clearwater Central Catholic defensive back Mike Stevenson has been cleared by trainers to play in Friday’s Class 3A state semifinal against Fort Lauderdale University School.
Stevenson, a senior, sustained a concussion two weeks ago against Frostproof in a region semifinal and was not cleared for last week’s region final against Tampa Catholic.
His return is a big boost to the Marauders, who face a team ranked No. 1 in its class and in the top 10 in most national polls. Stevenson has 82 tackles and a team-leading three interceptions this season. He has several Division I offers, including Bowling Green and Wake Forest. This week, he picked up an offer from Temple.
