Niortheast girls basketball coach Will White has crunched the numbers and figured what the classifications for boys and girls basketball will look like in 2013-14. White determined the classifications by using the 2010 enrollment numbers (which are the same numbers used for the next two years) and plugged in the numbers recently released by schools.
These are not official, and it is classification only, not districts. It's also only Pinellas schools. But here's what the classifications could look like (enrollment numbers next to classification):
Class 8A (2.301 and higher): Palm Harbor University, St. Petersburg (up from Class 7A).
Class 7A: (1926-2300): Clearwater, Countryside, East Lake (down from Class 8A), Pinellas Park, Seminole.
Class 6A (1581-1925): Dixie Hollins, Northeast (down from Class 7A), Largo, Osceola.
Class 5A (1100-1580): Boca Ciega, Dunedin, Gibbs, Lakewood, Tarpon Springs.
Class 4A (691-1099): None.
Class 3A (281-690): St. Petersburg Catholic, Shorecrest, Clearwater Central Catholic, Calvary Christian.
Class 2A (280-less): Lakeside Christian, Admiral Farragut, Indian Rocks Christian, Northside Chrisitan, Keswich Christian, Canterbury. (Northside and IRC drop from 3A).
Class 1A (600 less rural classification): None.
