Lakewood senior receiver Rodney Adams has been selected to play on the U.S. Under-19 national team, he said via Twitter on Tuesday. The team will compete Feb. 5, the night before national signing day, in the fourth annual International Bowl in Austin, Texas.
Adams was one of 10 receivers and running backs selected. After missing most of the preseason with a misdiagnosed heart condition, Adams returned to catch 22 passes for 390 yards. He also gained 378 yards rushing, most as a Wildcat formation quarterback, and scored seven touchdowns.
Adams, 6-foot-1, 166-pounder, has yet to make a college choice, but he has received offers from Central Florida, Cincinnati, Houston and West Virginia.
Team USA will play a team of international players. Lakewood head coach Cory Moore was an assistant coach on the U-19 national team last year.
