Springstead OL Will Allen and Nature Coast RB Matt Breida have been chosen for the Florida Athletic Coaches Association’s North-South all-star game.
Allen, a 6-foot-6, 278-pound senior, was a key part of an offensive line that the Eagles rack up more than 2,000 rushing yards. Springstead won the Class 6A, District 6 title with a 9-1 record before falling to Ocala Vanguard in the first round of the playoffs.
Allen has college offers from Bethune-Cookman, Alabama State, Georgia Southern, Florida Tech, Nebraska-Kearney and is also being recruited by several Ivy League schools.
Breida was one of the North Suncoast’s top rushers each of the last two seasons. The 5-foot-10 running back finished his senior season with almost 1,400 rushing yards and 17 TDs for NCT. He has a handful of Division I scholarship offers and is considering Toledo, Georgia Southern and Ball State, among others.
This is the fourth season a Nature Coast player has been chosen for the all-star game, after Tevin Drake, Ike Bailey and Darius Stewart.
