RUSKIN — Blake confined all of its scoring to the first half, keeping Lennard winless in an 18-0 victory Thursday night.
Both teams combined for just three completed passes on 19 attempts, but junior quarterback Kristian Johnson made his count, including a 49-yard bomb to DeAndre James just before the end of the first quarter that put the Yellow Jackets (3-5, 2-5) up 12-0.
Just four minutes later, Richard Newton made it 18-0 on a 5-yard run, taking advantage of penalties that plagued Lennard all night.
After pushing the ball deep into Blake territory early, penalty yards kept the Longhorns 15 yards short of setting up a first down inside the red zone. The closest Lennard (0-8, 0-6) came after that was a kickoff return early in the second that Victor Williams returned for 69 yards. Blake kicker Raymond Price-Murray made a touchdown-saving tackle at the 12-yard line.
