Jesuit junior midfielder Jacob Vila, currently the Tigers' second-leading scorer, is among 77 players named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) 2012 All-America team.
A National Merit Scholar with a 4.4 GPA, Vila is the only bay area player on the team. All-America candidates first must earn NSCAA all-state and all-region status; all-America teams are composed of the top players from each region.
A year-round player in the bay area-based Chargers Soccer Club, Vila has 10 goals and four assists this season for Jesuit (14-1-3), which faces a team from Coppell, Texas, on Thursday in the Montverde Academy Soccer Tournament.
Vila has been invited to the NSCAA All-America Luncheon, set for Jan. 19 in Indianapolis. The event will be held in conjunction with the 66th annual NSCAA Convention, the world's largest gathering of soccer coaches.
