From Under Armour to MaxPreps, Leon McQuay III is shaping up as everybody's All-American.
The Armwood safety, who committed to USC at Friday's Under Armour All-America Game at the Trop, has been named a second-team All-American by MaxPreps. The squad was released Wednesday.
McQuay (6-foot-2, 184 pounds) is the only bay area player on the team. A first-teamer on the Times' All-Suncoast squad, he had 54 tackles and five interceptions for the Hawks as a senior. Currently, he is No. 32 on ESPN's list of the nation's top 150 senior recruits.
The No. 3 player on the list, Wharton CB and Under Armour game MVP Vernon Hargreaves III, did not make the MaxPreps team. (Cue the squabbling).
