At Sarasota, the Buccaneers got a career-high 16 points from freshman Jacob Mathis and 14 from junior Craig Bowman in their Class 4A, District 9 opener.

Tampa Prep 71, Dunedin 29. At Tampa Prep, 11 Terrapins scored — led by 6-foot-8 senior Adonis Rwabigwi — as Tampa Prep improved to 15-0.

Freedom 50, Armwood 47. At Freedom, seniors Stephen Odunna and Brandon Patchan combined for 25 points to lift the Patriots (12-1), who managed only one 3-pointer.

Girls basketball
Bloomingdale 63, Spoto 32.
At Bloomingdale, sophomores Jacqueline Mayo and Nuri Troy combined for 30 points to lead the Bulls (7-8). Ivanie Carswell had 24 for the Spartans.

At Tampa Prep, senior midfielder Shaddy Douidar had a hat trick to lead the Terrapins (14-1-1).

At Steinbrenner, senior captain Alexis Bredeau scored in her final regular-season home game. Sophomore Jessica Taylor and junior Megan Haraschak also scored for the Warriors (11-4).
