Jesuit RB Will Lucas, the Tigers' top rusher in 2011, confirmed Monday afternoon that he has committed to seven-time defending Patriot League champion Colgate.
When he signs his national letter of intent early next month, Lucas will become the second Tigers athlete to commit to the school in three months. Basketball standout Jack Fleming, who will room with Lucas in college, signed with the Raiders in November.
Lucas (6-foot-1, 195 pounds) amassed nearly 700 rushing yards his final two years, highlighted by his team-best 634 yards two seasons ago. He tore his left labrum on the second play of the 2012 season against Plant and missed nearly the entire season, returning in time to gain 36 yards in a season-ending win against Tampa Catholic.
He already has qualified academically. Lucas earned a 3.83 GPA last semester, and scored a 30 on the ACT.
