Nature Coast sophomore wide receiver Jonathan Thomas has picked up his first college offer.
UMass extended a scholarship opportunity to the 6-foot-3, 185-pound Thomas, Sharks assistant Rob Kazmier said late Monday afternoon.
Thomas was NCT’s leading receiver this fall, catching 26 passes for 359 yards and three touchdowns. He also rushed 10 times for 99 yards and three scores during the Sharks’ 6-4 season. UCF has also expressed interest in him.
Thomas is the third NCT player to land an offer from the Minutemen, after senior running back/defensive back Matt Breida and junior DE Rohan Blackwood. Breida has a handful of MAC offers and is also strongly considering Georgia Southern.
Blackwood – who is also a star basketball player but is expected to focus on football at the next level – is also receiving strong interest from Mississippi State. Breida and Blackwood were both first-team all-North Suncoast selections this fall.
