Gaither senior defensive end Ernest Suttles has decommitted from Iowa State and accepted an offer to Nebraska after making an official visit there over the weekend, his coach said Tuesday.

Suttles, who orally committed to Iowa State in October, made the switch to the Cornhuskers and subsequently canceled his remaining official visits to Kentucky, Wake Forest and West Virginia.

“I guess there’s something about Nebraska,” Gaither coach Jason Stokes said. “Wherever he goes, God willing, he’s going to do well. He has all the tools and he’s good in class, too.”

A consensus three-star recruit, the 6-foot-5, 240-pound Suttles had 88 tackles, 31 for a loss, 12 sacks, four caused fumbles and two blocked field goals in his senior season for the Cowboys (8-3).

Suttles was later named first-team all-Western Conference and Times’ first-team all-Hillsborough and all-Suncoast.
