River Ridge girls soccer coach Skip Glover is resigning after 10 years as head coach.

Glover said he’s stepping down to focus on his two daughters, age 9 and 12.

“I’ve missed a lot of their stuff for this,” Glover said. “It’s time to do a little more with them.”

Glover will remain an economics teacher at River Ridge.

The 2012 North Suncoast coach of the year passed a milestone this year, winning his 150th career game. Last winter, he led the Royal Knights to their best run in school history – an 18-win season and their first trip to the region finals.

Glover took his program to the playoffs seven times, including four consecutive appearances in the region semifinals. He was named the Sunshine Athletic Conference coach of the year in 2007 and 2011.

Glover said he decided before the season that this would be his last campaign. River Ridge’s 15-4-2 year ended Wednesday in a 4-1 loss to Hudson in the Class 3A, District 8 semifinals.

“It was time,” Glover said.
