Anclote 67, Wesley Chapel 65: With some of the Wildcats’ starters on the bench early, the Sharks (12-7) capitalized to hand one of the North Suncoast’s top programs its fourth loss of the season. Wesley Chapel (17-4) got 35 points from standout senior Erik Thomas, but Anclote’s Dylan Walsh and a host of other Sharks kept Thomas from controlling the game. “They played their butts off tonight,” Anclote coach Jason Szymanski said. “They really defended well, I thought.” Shymere Carter led the Sharks with 16 points to help his team earn its sixth consecutive victory. Drew Driscoll scored 14 for Anclote, and Walsh added 10 points.
Hernando 70, Crystal River 65 (OT): The Leopards (13-4) rallied from a 15-point fourth quarter deficit to eke out their third consecutive victory. Senior guard Giovanni Perez was the game’s first hero after draining a 3-pointer with 1.4 seconds remaining to force overtime. Hernando pulled away in the extra frame, thanks to 10 points by senior guard Jeffrey Velasquez.
