Jesuit safety Tim Foley, a three-year letterman and honor student, has committed to Division I-AA Valparaiso, a rebuilding program in the Pioneer Football League.
Foley (6-foot, 180 pounds) recorded 23 tackles, an interception and two caused fumbles as a senior for the Tigers. He had offers from several small schools, but said he received academic scholarship money to attend Valpo, which boasts an acclaimed international business school.
He'll join a Crusaders football program that finished 1-10 last fall.
"I chose Valpo because my official visit was really fun and all the kids there were really dedicated to football," said Foley, who visited last weekend. "The kids who visited with me were a lot of fun and dedicated to turning the program around."
A two-year starter for Jesuit, Foley owns a 3.72 GPA and scored an 1830 on his most recent try at the SAT. Should he enroll in the Valparaiso College of Business, he'll likely travel abroad for a semester -- free of charge -- to study in one of its satellite schools around the world.
"That's all I could ask for," he said.
