Hernando softball players Tana McDaniel and Megan Lane have both made recent college decisions.
Lane has orally committed to UCF, and McDaniel has made a verbal pledge to Morehead State, Leopards coach Kevin Bittinger said Wednesday night in an email.
Both earned second-team all-North Suncoast honors last season, despite their youth.
Lane, a sophomore catcher, led Hernando with a .453 average last spring in her first high school season. She struck out only seven times and stole a whopping 49 bases in 52 attempts while committing only two fielding errors.
McDaniel put up strong statistics during her sophomore season at shortstop and pitcher. She carried a .420 batting average while leading the team with 12 doubles, 30 RBIs and a pair of home runs.
Another Leopard, Ashley Sims, has already committed to Seminole State College.
Oral commitments are non-binding until recruits sign letters of intent during their senior seasons.
