Each week, our HomeTeam staffers will nominate male and female Hot Shot athletes from each of the counties we cover. These nominations span Saturday, Jan. 19 through Friday, Jan. 25. Winners get a free T-shirt and bragging rights over every other school in the area. Read up on what made our nominees stand out, then look for our writers’ picks for overall winners in Tuesday’s Tampa Bay Times. Show your love for a favorite athlete in the comments section.

Kameryn Kailimai, Land O’Lakes soccer: The sophomore made the most of her only real scoring chance, breaking through the defense and notching the winning goal with six minutes left for a 2-1 victory over Hudson in the Class 3A region quarterfinals.
Kayla Kivinski, Gulf basketball: A previous Hot Shot winner gets another nomination after one of the best single-game performances in North Suncoast history. She exploded for 49 points and had a triple double in her team’s 68-58 overtime win over Wiregrass Ranch.
Olivia Red, Seminole soccer: The freshman had two goals in a 3-0 win over East Bay in the Class 5A region semifinals and is Pinellas County’s leading scorer this season with 31 goals.
Male nominees
Shane Butler, Seminole soccer: The junior had two goals in an 8-0 Class 4A, District 10 semifinal against Dixie Hollins. He followed that with three goals in a 4-1 championship win over Northeast
Thomas Dziagwa, Tampa Catholic basketball: Two nights after scoring a career-high 21 in a rout of St. Petersburg Catholic, the freshman had a team-high 19 in the Crusaders’ 70-60 upset of third-ranked Berkeley Prep. In both games, Dziagwa sank five 3-pointers.
Jose Flores, Pasco soccer: The senior forward netted a hat trick in the Pirates’ 4-2 upset win over Land O’Lakes in the 3A-7 district semifinals. His performance ended the season for a Gators team that made the state finals last year and snapped Pasco’s three-year playoff drought.
Donovan Hale, Largo basketball: The sophomore led his team in scoring with 15 points against state-ranked Wharton and 24 points vs. Boca Ciega in wins this past week.
Travis Johnson, Jesuit basketball: The Tigers senior nearly notched a double double on consecutive nights. After a 24-point, seven-rebound effort in a 13-point win Monday vs. Orlando Colonial, Johnson had 25 points, 10 rebounds and three blocks the following evening in a 71-54 senior night win over Lennard. The latter victory clinched the top seed in the upcoming 5A-11 district tournament.
Nick Schroder, River Ridge soccer: The junior made the first overtime goal of his high school career a memorable one. His shot off a deflection with three minutes left in the second overtime gave the Royal Knights a 2-1 win over top-seeded Mitchell in the 3A-8 district title game.
