Nebraska-Kearney is keeping its recruiting pipeline flowing from the North Suncoast.

Pasco DB Damien Wilson has orally committed to the Lopers, Wilson confirmed Tuesday night in a text message.

The 5-foot-8, 155-pound senior was one of Pasco County’s top defensive backs during the Pirates’ run to the Class 5A region finals. He tallied 24 tackles and broke up four passes this fall to earn honorable mention all-North Suncoast honors.

Wilson will have some local company at the NCAA Division II program. He visited campus earlier this winter with Hernando pass rusher Darren Hambrick, who also gave a recent pledge to the Lopers. Former Mitchell running back Ricky Trinidad rushed for more than 1,000 for Nebraska-Kearney last season.

Wilson was recruited by assistant Andy Siegal, who was on the Pirates’ coaching staff when Pasco won the 1992 state championship.
