One of the North Suncoast’s top softball players will miss the rest of her senior season.
Hernando Christian’s Ashley McKay tore her ACL after charging for a bad ball on senior night, her mother, Stacy, confirmed in an email. McKay will require surgery, but she’ll keep her scholarship to Lake-Sumter State College.
McKay ranked third in the North Suncoast in hitting (.568 average), and her 130 strikeouts were second most in the area. She also ranked among Hernando County’s leaders in home runs (three), RBIs (24) and ERA (2.19) for the 13-2 Lions.
