Baseball super seven
Records through Wednesday
1. Land O’Lakes (17-3): The Gators rebounded from a two-run loss to Ridgewood by knocking off Wiregrass Ranch to claim Pasco County supremacy. They can become kings of the North Suncoast with a win over Hernando next week.
2. Hernando (15-5): Leopards star and UF signee Christian Arroyo is on a tear. He’s 8-of-11 with four home runs in his past three games.
3. Mitchell (16-4): A six-game win streak ended Tuesday with a 13-9 loss to rival River Ridge.
4. Wiregrass Ranch (13-7): Zach Drury and the Bulls close the regular season with three tough games, against Mitchell, Wesley Chapel and River Ridge. Three wins would help Wiregrass gain momentum for a playoff push.
5. Springstead (12-6): Eagles have stumbled with four losses in past five games, including shutouts against South Sumter and Central. Tuesday’s game against Hernando could turn things around.
6. Pasco (14-6): The Pirates have become the favorites in Class 5A, District 8 thanks to offense. Six Pirates have driven in at least 13 runs.
7. Wesley Chapel (15-5): The Wildcats are on a five-game win streak and have scored at least eight runs in each of those victories.
