Lakewood forward Tianah Alvarado, the Times' Pinellas County player of the year, has been released from her scholarship at Seton Hall and will re-open her recruiting. Alvarado has a visit planned this weekend to the University of Mississippi.

"Tianah talked with (new) Seton Hall coach (Tony) Bozzella and he said he would like to recruit her,'' Lakewood coach Necole Tunsil said. "She may end up back at Seton Hall. But for right now she is going to explore her options.''

Alvarado averaged 19.5 points in her senior year and helped lead the Spartans to the Class 5A state final. She scored 39 points in the Pinellas vs. Hillsborough senior all-star game. She originally committed to Seton Hall when Anne Donovan was the coach, but Donovan left to coach in the WNBA.
