Baseball super seven
Records through Thursday
1. Hernando (19-5): Leopards earned the top spot with Thursday’s 4-0 win over Land O’Lakes. USF signee Brandon Lawson had eight strikeouts in the win, and UF recruit Christian Arroyo finished 4-for-4.

2. Land O’Lakes (20-5): Pasco County’s top team has lost to Hernando County programs twice in the past week. But the Gators remain favorites to reach the playoffs and could earn their first postseason victory since 2000.

3. Mitchell (20-5): Marcus Begg is on a 20-game hitting streak with three home runs in the past seven games. His Mustangs have the best shot to upset Land O’Lakes in districts.

4. Springstead (13-7): Eagles continued an up-and-down season, sandwiching a loss to Hernando between an impressive win over Land O’Lakes and a blowout victory over Weeki Wachee.

5. Wiregrass Ranch (16-7): A 3-1 win over cross-town rival Wesley Chapel, plus victories over Mitchell and River Ridge, suggests the Bulls are getting hot at the right time.

6. Pasco (17-8): Lane Stancil and AJ Rainaldi have quietly put up strong seasons, each batting better than .450 with three homers and a combined 47 RBIs.

7. Wesley Chapel (16-7): A six-game win streak ended this week with loses to Land O’Lakes and Wiregrass Ranch.
