Holy Names hurdler Ryann McEnany bound for UF

Academy of the Holy names state hurdling medalist Ryann McEnany confirmed to the Tampa Bay Times on Tuesday evening she has committed to the University of Florida.

McEnany, who earned two medals at the Class 2A state meet -- one in hurdles, one for a relay -- said she expects to receive a partial scholarship.

Despite a partially torn right quad detected only two weeks before, McEnany won titles in the 100- and 300-meter hurdles, and ran anchor leg on the Jaguars' winning 4x400 relay team at the Class 2A, District 9 meet. Two weeks later, she placed sixth in the 100 hurdles and helped her relay team place seventh at the 2A state meet.

The 4x400 team eclipsed its own school record at state, finishing in 4:02.07.

A four-year state qualifier, McEnany -- a cheerleader at Jesuit High -- finishes her career with four state medals.
