FAU gave Pasco ATH Malik Johns is first college offer, Pirates coach Tom McHugh announced Tuesday morning on Twitter.
“FAU!!!” McHugh said. “It is about time.”
Johns was one of the North Suncoast’s most dynamic weapons as a junior. He returned five punts for a touchdown – including in the first four games to open the season – to earn all-North Suncoast honors. He added 392 receiving yards, six touchdown catches, 111 rushing yards and a touchdown run. Johns also broke up six passes and snagged an interception in the region semifinal against Gainesville Eastside.
The 5-10, 160-pound speedster is expected to be a fixture at cornerback while seeing time at receiver, running back and possibly Wildcat quarterback this fall.
