Nate Craig, Pasco WR (6-3, 200)
The latest: One of the state's top freshmen now has the attention of two of the state's power programs. The Gators became the first state school to offer the sophomore-to-be, Pirates coach Tom McHugh announced on Twitter. UF coach Will Muschamp called McHugh to give Craig his fourth SEC offer (after Mississippi State, Tennessee and Vanderbilt). A few hours later, Craig received his second in-state offer, from FSU.
Offers: Texas Tech, UMass, Ohio State, Mississippi State, Clemson, Tennessee, Rutgers, Vanderbilt, Florida, Florida State
Last season: Craig had a standout freshman season at receiver and defensive back. He scored nine touchdowns (seven receiving) while averaging 17 yards per catch during Pasco’s run to the Class 5A elite eight. He also snared four interceptions.
They say: Most recruiting sites don’t rank or give stars for freshmen, but Craig is already being whispered as a potential five-star recruit and the state’s top prospect in 2016.
We say: Craig has the bloodlines – his older brother, Josh Johnson, was picked up by the Chargers as an undrafted free agent – size and athleticism to be an elite recruit. Don’t be surprised if he lands another dozen (or two) offers during the spring evaluation period. You can check out a highlight reel we made below.
