Durant senior ace Paige Davis, who helped lead the "Cardiac Cougars" to the Class 8A state title in 2012, formally signed her paperwork Wednesday with South Florida State College, a two-year program in Avon Park.
The Tampa Bay Times' All-Suncoast Pitcher of the Year in '12, Davis leaned more on command than velocity to establish herself as one of the area's dominant pitchers. She compiled a 40-9 record and 1.99 ERA with 46 complete games over her final two seasons.
Affectionately nicknamed "Peanut," she also remained one of the Cougars' steadiest hitters during her four-year varsity career, batting .390 with a homer, six doubles and 14 RBI as a senior.
