The accolades keep coming for Durant's Tyler Danish.
The right-handed pitcher, recently drafted in the second round of the MLB first-year players draft by the White Sox, was named the Florida Dairy Farmers' Mr. Baseball on Monday.
Danish pulled in 13 of 23 first-place votes, beating out runnerup Christian Arrroyo of Hernando.
Danish, the Times' all-Hillsborough County player of the year, was 15-1 on the mound and didn't allow an earned run in 94 innings. He also hit .411 with 27 RBIs and nine home runs in leading Durant to the Class 8A state final.
Danish is the third straight Mr. Baseball from Hillsborough County. Alonso's Jose Fernandez nabbed the honor in 2011, followed by Jesuit's Lance McCullers last year.
