Freedom point guard Monet Williams, a key contributor to the Patriots’ first final four team, has signed with Broward College in Fort Lauderdale.
After transferring from Riverview before her senior year, Williams averaged 2.1 points, 3.3 assists, 1.8 steals and 1.7 rebounds per game in a reserve role for the Patriots.
The 5-foot-4 guard was slowed last season as she recovered from two major knee injuries in 2012. Williams tore her anterior cruciate ligament during a game in January and reinjured it five months later during rehabilitation.
But she had a bigger role for the Patriots during their run to Lakeland, averaging eight points, four assists and three rebounds in regionals.
She transferred to Freedom after spending her first three years at Riverview. As a junior, Williams averaged 9.3 points, 5.4 assists, 3.5 steals and 2.5 rebounds before the knee injury.
Broward competes in the Southern Conference of the National Junior College Athletic Association. The Seahawks finished 9-18 last season.
