Gaither graduate Hunter Henderson, one of the area’s most versatile baseball players last spring, has signed with Florida A&M.
Henderson ranked fourth in Hillsborough County with a 0.73 ERA and hit .333 with 12 RBIs. He was essentially the top player on a team that included shortstop Oscar Mercado, who went on to become a second-round pick in the MLB Draft last month.
Henderson finished the year as a second-team selection at first base on the all-Western Conference team, which is selected by local coaches, and an honorable mention on the Tampa Bay Times’ all-Hillsborough team.
He will join a Rattlers program that has one player from Hillsborough County on its roster: Jaylin Earl of Tampa Bay Tech. Florida A&M competes in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference in NCAA Division I.
