East Lake junior Tyler Dierwechter is one of 14 players selected by the International Junior Golf Tour to represent Team USA in the Euro Cup, which begins Wednesday in St. Andrews, Scotland.
The Euro Cup takes place annually in St. Andrews between golfers from Team USA, Team Canada and the FIFE team from Scotland.
The event is three-ball match-play competition for three days on three courses. A player from each county is in a group and they play match play style against the other golfers in their group. The three courses used are Scotsgraig Gold Club, Leven Links Golf Course and Drumoig Golf Club.
Dierwechter was selected to play due to his performance in various IJGT events. He will be homeschooled for his junior year, but will continue to play on East Lake's golf team, according to his father, Jim. Dierwechter was a key member of last year's East Lake team that advanced to the region tournament.
