Nature Coast will be without one of the North Suncoast’s top offensive talents.
Junior WR/S Jonathan Thomas has left the program and moved to live with his father in Atlanta, Sharks coach Charles Liggett said Tuesday morning.
“That’s a big deal for any team, a player of that quality,” Liggett said. “But we won’t fret it.”
The 6-foot-3, 185-pound Thomas had a solid sophomore season, showing enough potential to land scholarship offers from UMass and Toledo. He led Nature Coast with 26 catches for 359 yards and three touchdowns while rushing for three more.
Thomas was one of the top performers at the Battle of the Bay 7-on-7 tournament and was poised for a breakout junior year at safety and receiver.
He also contributed to the Sharks’ basketball team, averaging 4.0 points and 4.3 rebounds per game.
