Two more Hernando graduates will continue their football careers in college, Leopards athletic director Kevin Bittinger said Thursday. Lineman Richard Hudson will play at Methodist University, and lineman Canaan Swackard will play at Graceland.
Hudson, a 5-foot-11, 235-pound athlete, racked up 51 tackles and two sacks last fall as one of the leaders of the Leopards’ defense. He also recovered two fumbles to help take Hernando to its third consecutive playoff appearances. Methodist is an NCAA Division III school in Fayetteville, N.C.
Swackard, a 6-foot, 270-pound athlete, focused on the offensive line. He assisted on four tackles on defense. He’ll be joined at the NAIA program by Leopards teammates Andre Southall and Andrew Timmons.
