TAMPA — Jefferson flashed its big-play capability and Mondreas Lofton introduced himself to Hillsborough County as the Dragons defeated visiting Plant City 48-26.

“We know we have some weapons,” Jefferson coach Jeremy Earle said. “We’re pretty excited.”

QB Deiondre Porter (10 of 13 for 258 yards) accounted for five of the Dragons’ TDs, passing for four and running for one. All four of Porter’s TD passes went for more than 21 yards, including a 44-yard strike to Chavez Pownell and an 85-yard bomb to Ventell Bryant, who had two scores.

Lofton, a sophomore making his first varsity start, ran nine times for 143 yards and an 89-yard TD. He had a 92-yard kickoff return TD.

“Mondreas Lofton, you’re going to hear that name for a long time in this county,” Earle said.

Landon Galloway, making his first start at QB after switching from receiver was 15 of 24 for 250 yards and two TDs. Hassan Bailey ran for 83 yards and scored on a 5-yard run and 78-yard reception.
