TAMPA — Robinson pushed, scratched and clawed and briefly managed to make it a game. But for most of the night Deiondre Porter and Mondreas Lofton had their way as Jefferson jumped ahead, allowed a rally then pulled away for a 39-22 win.
Porter and Lofton were practically unstoppable, piling up more than 300 yards and five touchdowns combined, keeping Jefferson unbeaten at 3-0 and already 2-0 in Class 6A, District 8.
“We had to fight through a little bit of adversity, that’s a testament to Robinson,” said coach Jeremy Earle.”
The Dragons streaked out to a 19-0 first-quarter lead behind Lofton and Porter scoring runs and a touchdown pass from Porter to Derrick Ingram.
Robinson (0-3, 0-1) outscored Jefferson 16-7 from that point to head to the fourth trailing 26-16. Hopes of a comeback faded with a 28-yard
Porter scoring run and an 18-yard Lofton TD.
