DURANT — It turned out to be a long night for Durant and not just because of a 40-minute lightning delay.
Tampa Bay Tech dual-threat quarterback Deon Cain accounted for 354 of his team’s 436 offensive yards and four touchdowns in a 31-10 victory over the Cougars on Thursday.
Cain passed for 261 yards and two scores and rushed for 93 and two TDs.
Tampa Bay Tech is 1-1 while Durant, one year removed from an 11-1 season, dropped to 0-3.
Durant quarterback Trey VanDeGrift passed for 65 yards and was responsible for three of his team’s four turnovers with three late interceptions.
Cain scored from a yard out in the first quarter and hit Deon Thompson on a screen pass that resulted in a 54-yard score just before halftime. In the second half Cain connected with Tajee Fullwood on a 47-yard TD and closed with a 59-yard touchdown run.
