A few quick recruiting updates from Hillsborough and Pasco:
Florida and Toledo are the two latest programs to offer Jefferson QB Deiondre Porter. The three-star recruit was the Times’ all-Suncoast offensive player of the year after leading the state with 4,698 total yards and 53 touchdowns. Porter has orally committed to USF but is considering other options. He’s being recruited as an athlete.
Robinson LB Jordan Guyton orally committed to Presbyterian. The 5-foot-10, 205-pound senior amassed 41 tackles (30 solo), two sacks and two forced fumbles last fall in six games. His teammate, WR/DB Robert Priester, added an offer from Wyoming. The 5-foot-9 senior holds offers from Ball State and Utah State, among others.
Gaither DB Amani Oruwariye claimed a recent offer from Penn State. That’s no surprise for the three-star prospect – the Nittany Lions’ new coach is James Franklin, who earned a verbal pledge from Oruwariye when he was leading Vanderbilt. Another Vandy commit, Armwood S Kyle Gibson, said on Twitter that he has reopened his commitment, although he remains a Commodores commit. The four-star prospect is Rivals' No. 196 overall recruit and holds offers from UCF, Florida State, USF and others.
Hernando DB/WR Troy Grant Hambrick added offers from Fort Hays State and Nebraska-Kearney over the weekend. His cousin, Darren Hambrick, signed with Nebraska-Kearney out of Hernando last year.
Land O’Lakes sleeper DE Shaheed Salmon has recently earned offers from Jacksonville University, Central Arkansas and Alabama State. His teammate, TE Liam Heaney claimed his first offer, from Black Hills State in Spearfish, S.D. Heaney was one of the North Suncoast’s leading receivers with 48 catches for 690 yards and six touchdowns this fall.
