East Lake receiver George Campbell, rated the nation’s top athlete in the 2015 class by 247Sports, will have a busy week on the recruiting front with Miami’s Al Golden, Missouri’s Gary Pinkel and Georgia’s Mark Richt all stopping by for an in-school visit.
Eagles coach Bob Hudson also said coaches from Clemson, FSU, LSU and UCLA will be visiting Campbell at school within the next two weeks. Hudson said he was unsure if it would be assistants or head coaches from those schools.
Last summer, Campbell said he planned to play for Michigan. In December, he changed his mind. There is no timetable on when he’ll make a decision.
Also for the Eagles, lineman Jared Gleason committed to Stetson after visiting the campus this past weekend.
“It’s a family school, and it just felt like the perfect fit for me,” Gleason said.
Gleason, a right tackle, played on the county’s best offensive line, and helped the Eagles go 13-1 and advance to the Class 7A state semifinals for the first time.
He is the fifth East Lake player from the 2014 class to commit to a college, joining Devin Abraham (USF), Mason Cole (Michigan), Artavis Scott (Clemson) and Hunter Snyder (FAU).
