Sarasota Out-of-Door got a steady diet of Plentovich sisters against Calvary Christian in Thursday night’s Class 3A region quarterfinal.

Carley Plentovich scored 29 points and twin Savannah added 14 in a 68-25 victory. Calvary Christian jumped on the Thunder from the opening tip-off and led 32-4 after the first quarter. By the fourth quarter, the game was played with a running clock.

“It’s nice to see that we were ready to play,” Warriors coach Brooke Sibert said. “It’s the regionals now so you expect to get the best from every team you play.”

Breanna Hickey scored 10 to also reach double figures for the Warriors (21-4).
Admiral Farragut 46, Cardinal Mooney 31: Once the visiting Blue Jackets switched up their defense to contain Jacqueline Kulle, they pulled away.

“Jacque decided to play out and was killing us,” AFA coach Julie Pickering said. “So we had to make the adjustment and start matching up. Charlisa (Jenkins) has very good defense and we needed to utilize it.”

Kulle accounted for all 12 of the Cougars’ second-quarter points, but only scored six points in the second half.

AFA (12-5) crashed the boards and used several players to find baskets on the offensive end. The result was an 11-point lead with 2:59 remaining, before Zariyah Daniels and Sakhia Jones combined to convert 6-of-9 free throws in the final minutes to ice the game.

Farragut received double-digit scoring from Jenkins (14 points) and Jones (13 points).

Class 7A
Sarasota had no trouble with Northeast, defeating the Vikings 56-30. The Sailors (25-4) led 30-15 at halftime. Northeast was led by Laura Fizell’s 14 points.

The Vikings, who played in their first region game since 1986, ended their season 21-9.

“I knew it was going to be a tough matchup,” Northeast coach Will White said. “Sarasota is as fundamentally solid as any team I’ve seen. I told the girls after the game, that’s where we want to be someday. We’ll just have to keep working hard.”

Class 5A
As expected, Gibbs rolled at Spoto 65-29, despite being a No. 2 seed.

Gibbs blew the game open with a 34-point third quarter that forced a running clock in the fourth.

Gibbs (13-12) will play at Bradenton Southeast on Tuesday. Spoto, which won the district championship by beating Robinson, finishes 2-16.

Class 2A
Keswick Christian led 30-5 at halftime and cruised to a 50-22 win over Cambridge Christian.

The Crusaders (21-8) were led by Ashley Bohl, who had 10 points. Madison Span and Bonnie Bouvier each had eight points. A total of nine different players scored for Keswick.

“That’s the thing about our team this year; we’re very well rounded,” Keswick coach Karrmayne King said. “We don’t rely on just one player to score our points.”

Keswick will play at Academy at the Lakes on Tuesday.
