Shorecrest distance runner Alex Eaton made her college plans official by signing her letter of intent to attend Georgia during a ceremony at school this week.
Eaton, the Times all-Pinellas County girls cross country runner of the year the past two seasons, finished as the Class A state runnerup in 18 minutes, 22.68 seconds. It was the highest she placed in her high school career.
After the cross country season ended, Eaton started narrowing down her college choices. She also had considered Columbia and Davidson, among others, before choosing the Bulldogs.
"(Georgia) is the perfect fit for me," Eaton said. "It's a great program with a talented team and awesome coaches who really believe in me."
Eaton will continue to run distance events in track this spring.
