Times’ super 7
Records through Tuesday
1. Mitchell (12-0, 6-0): The Mustangs added two shutouts and a 3-1 win against Wiregrass Ranch. Mitchell averages 10.33 runs per game, combining with a defense that’s held opponents to two or fewer runs.
2. River Ridge (9-1, 4-1): A 1-0 loss to Fivay on Tuesday shook up the 5A-8 standings, but don’t expect the Royal Knights to stay down long. This weekend’s Palm Harbor U. tourney will give them a chance to reassert their dominance.
3. Nature Coast (9-0, 6-0): The Sharks sit atop 5A-7 as the only undefeated team, and can thank a balanced game plan — .349 team batting average, 23 stolen bases, 1.04 team ERA — for their hot start.
4. Gulf (9-1, 7-1): The Buccaneers don’t need to rely on just one or two players on offense. Tarra Rice, Rachel Gardner, Madison Morlan and Haley McCarthy have a combined 48 RBIs.
5. Hernando (9-1, 7-1): A shutout against Pasco reminds opponents to watch out Courtney Riddle, one of the North Suncoast’s top pitchers.
6. Fivay (7-3, 4-3): The Falcons upset River Ridge in a 1-0 shutout, continuing a season full of surprises. Fivay is ranked behind the Royal Knights, Dunedin and Gulf in 5A-8.
7. Academy at the Lakes (9-2, 0-0): The Wildcats continue to ride the hot bats of Skyler Boyton and Lauren Evans, picking up recent wins against Hernando Christian and Berkeley Prep.
