Each week, our HomeTeam staffers nominate male and female Hot Shot athletes from each of the counties we cover. Then we turn the voting over to readers. These nominations span Saturday, March 8 through Friday, March 14. The winners get a T-shirt and bragging rights over every other school in the area. Read up on all of our nominees then vote until noon Monday.

Female nominees

Alicia Gentz, Nature Coast track: The senior won the 200 meters (26.69) at the Hornet Invitational and contributed to another win in the 4x100 relay, as well as placed second in the 100, propelling the Sharks to a victory.

Makenzie Goluba, River Ridge softball: The junior threw a no-hitter and had seven strikeouts in a 14-0 win over Lakewood in the first round of the Lady 'Canes softball tournament. Goluba also was 1-for-2 with two RBIs.

Lindsay Graves, Canterbury softball: The sophomore infielder was a combined 7-for-8 with two doubles and a triple in wins against Punta Gorda Charlotte and Class 8A, No. 2-ranked Miami Coral Reef at the Gulliver Prep tournament in Miami.

Kristin Hoover, Berkeley Prep softball: The Cal recruit was 5-for-8 at the plate with five RBIs and three extra-base hits in the Buccaneers' games against Cambridge Christian and Academy at the Lakes.

Corynn Miner, Admiral Farragut softball: The sophomore tossed a one-hit shutout, recorded nine strikeouts and had a run-scoring double in a 2-0 win over St. Petersburg Catholic that puts the Blue Jackets one win from clinching the top seed in Class 3A, District 10.

Jasmine Robinson, Wharton track: The senior had a national elite time of 57.71 in the 400 meters at last weekend's Kowboy Invitational in Kissimmee. Her win was part of a banner day for the Wharton girls, who won the team title.

Male nominees

Sean Fluke, Fivay baseball: The senior's eye for strategy has given him a 5-0 record this season. He had 13 strikeouts in a 6-3 win over Land O'Lakes. He has 51 strikeouts for the season and a 1.20 ERA.

Flabio Garcia, Strawberry Crest baseball: The senior outfielder scored four runs and went 8-for-13, including three doubles and four RBIs, in the Chargers' Saladino Tournament run. Garcia went 2-for-3 with a double in the 5-4 semifinal loss to the Dragons, their second straight year losing to Jefferson in that round.
