Two North Suncoast athletes who have dominated the high jump this season each won their signature event at the FSU Relays this past weekend.
Springstead’s Bobby Harris cleared 6 feet, 8 inches, the same height he recorded to break his own meet record at the USF/Steinbrenner Invitational two weeks ago. He also took fifth in the triple jump in 41-1.
Anclote’s Emily Gauvey leaped 5-4, two inches short of the height she cleared to win at the USF meet.
Bloomingdale’s Matt Butler was third in the 400 (49.95) and teammate Kevin Heron was third in the 800 (1:55.07). They ran legs along with Elijah Beauzile and John Bryant on the 4x800 (7:54.51) and 4x400 (3:24.14) relay teams that each finished second.
Osceola’s Jennifer Kistemaker, who set meet in the pole vault at the USF meet and the Ed Wells/Kiwanis Invitational, finished second in the event at 11-6. The Warriors’ Carson Waters, who has won the pole vault at nearly every major meet, finished second in 14-0.
Wharton’s 4x400 relay team of Jasmine Robinson, Avonti Holt, Searra Woods and Daneesha Davidson finished second in 4:00.34. Woods also teamed with Mariah Henderson, Jasmine Robinson and Bryanna Rivers and Searra Woods to place fourth in the 4x800 in 9:41.37.
Dunedin’s Olivia Welsh was second in the 110 hurdles (15.07) and sixth in the pole vault (10-6).
Springstead’s Wilena Little was third in the long jump (17-9).
