Baseball super 7
Records through Wednesday.
1. Clearwater Central Catholic (19-0): The Marauders have three regular-season games remaining against out-of-area schools (Orlando Bishop Moore, Lake Wales and Canisius of Buffalo, N.Y.).
2. Osceola (16-4): Big game Friday against St. Petersburg to determine the PCAC south winner. Should be noted that the April 3 loss to East Lake was an unofficial JV game with both coaches playing freshmen and sophomores.
3. Northeast (17-4): The Vikings clinched the No. 1 seed in a very tough Class 7A, District 9. They had won 11 straight prior to Thursday’s game against Seminole.
4. St. Petersburg (14-7): The Green Devils have won three of their past four and have a big showdown with Osceola on Friday.
5. Calvary Christian (15-5): The Warriors lost a close one to CCC this week, which snapped a four-game win streak. They’re still good enough to get to regionals.
6. East Lake (15-6): If the Eagles beat Tarpon Springs next week, they’ll win the PCAC north. As always, it depends on the bats.
7. Countryside (11-7): The Cougars have been up and down all season, but if the pitching holds and the hitting improves, they could be dangerous in the playoffs.
