Keswick Christian’s Hannah Palm plans to sign next week to run at Charleston Southern, a Division-I school in South Carolina.
Palm has been the Crusaders’ top runner since eighth grade and has made it to the cross country state finals every year. She trained all summer, but started having pain in her foot before the season started and an MRI revealed she had a stress fracture.
“The hardest part of this past fall was when I got injured was the same time college coaches started calling asking how my cross country season was going and inviting me for recruiting visits,” Palm said.
Palm told recruiters about her injury and took visits, walking boot and all.
“Most coaches were not as worried about my fracture and that I missed my senior year of cross country as I thought they’d be,” Palm said.
Hannah committed to Charleston Southern in December.
"At Charleston Southern I will be an important part of the cross country team but they are also excited about my potential in the mid-distance track events,” Palm said. “I can really envision my life at Charleston Southern and running for the coach so I thought, what am I waiting for? And between the athletic scholarship and an academic scholarship it’s a lot of money toward my education. It’s also a great feeling going into my senior year of track with no pressure of where I will spend my college years.”
