USF offer to Justin Madison may be too late

While college recruiters collectively have gotten a late jump on rangy Robinson OLB Justin Madison, USF's coaches may be a bit too tardy.

Madison (6-foot-4, 205 pounds), offered Tuesday morning by the Bulls, told the Tampa Bay Times later in the day that Iowa State and Wake Forest are his top college choices, respectively. Madison has visited ISU and heads to Wake's campus in Winston-Salem, N.C., this weekend.

"There are some other schools that have been trying to come into the mix like USF and what not, but it's kind of late in the game," said Madison, Robinson's student government president. "But with (Iowa State and Wake), I've built relationships with those coaches speaking with them week to week. It's going to be out of those two."

An academic qualifier with a 4.1 weighted GPA, Madison played in only three games in an injury-plagued junior year, but broke out in 2012 (63 tackles, eight sacks, three caused fumbles). His other offers include FIU (the first to offer him), FAU, Buffalo and Miami.
